The mild steels as having less than 2% of carbon content and it has not
any other beneficial alloy. Mild steel makes up the largest part of

having 0.3% of carbon content require special precautions. The corrosion
resistance property of mild steel is poor. These are not recommended for
mildly corrosive environments if these are applied than special coatings
are required. The carbon steels contain about 0.05 to 1.70% of carbon by
weight. The increased number of carbon composition provides additional
strength and also it is considered as the most economic approach for
increasing the strength of grade. As a result of the higher composition
of carbon, this steels change to become brittle and lower ductile in
nature. Hence, the right composition is added in order to attain higher
performance in steel. These carbon steels are available in two variants
high carbon steel has composition between 0.3% to 1.70% of carbon and
low carbon steel has 0.05% to 0.15% of carbon. The carbon steel is the
most common and economic options for industrial applications.
